Welcome to the Grants in Aid Application Form

Grants in Aid - Community Grant Program are provided to non-profit, community-based organizations that provide direct programs, services or activities that enhance the quality of place and economy for Brighton's residents in the areas of social services, health, arts, culture, heritage, recreation, youth initiatives, local cemetery initiatives or the environment.

1. There are three different streams:

Community Project Grants: seed money or in-kind support for a specific project for which the amount requested is up to $1,000.00.

Community Investment Grants: funding or in-kind support for a project, special events, specific programs or operating budgets for which the amount requested is up to $5,000.00

Non-Profit Major Grants: funding or in-kind support for specific programs or capital budgets that support Municipal Core Services and mandates for which the amount requested is up to $20,000.00

2. Grant requests over $5,000 require a presentation to Municipal Council. The Treasurer of the Municipality will invite organizations to a budget meeting for this presentation.

3. Funding streams are further defined as projects, events, activities or programs that support, sustain, promote, inform, educate, celebrate, preserve or provide access to:

a. Arts: creative activity by professionals and non-professionals in various fine and applied art forms including but not limited to: visual, performing, literary, media, and decorative arts;

b. Culture: beliefs, customs and traditions of certain communities, societies or cultural groups relating to language, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual identity, disability, religion, class and diversity;

c. Environment: beautification, conservation, documentation, interpretation, preservation, restoration, and research of the environment/natural heritage (air, water, flora, fauna and natural landscape);

d. Heritage: identification, documentation, interpretation or maintenance/preservation of built heritage (structure, building or group of buildings, landscape), cultural heritage (archaeology, archives, genealogy , monuments, museums and galleries/collections), historic people and events and traditions (customs and beliefs);

e. Recreation: activities contributing to physical, mental and social well-being with a focus on prevention.

Applicants to the Municipality of Brighton Grant in Aid - Community Grants Program must provide a completed application form and attach the following information:

a fully completed financial information form. This is to include complete financial information and the projected budget for the project.
the organization's financial statement for the most recent fiscal year, as prepared by the organization or their auditor.
completed accessible customer service training certification.
organization's minutes or resolution showing sound cash handling processes.
support materials such as annual reports, promotional material, etc.

Deadline for the application and supporting documents is the last working day of September.
