Special Events and Road Use Application

The following are requirements that will need to be submitted on the next page of this application
  • A copy of Certificate of General Liability Insurance (Minimum of $5 million) covering the event and naming the Municipality of Brighton as additional insured. 
  • If your event will cause a disruption to traffic flow, you must provide a traffic plan on your application and get approval from OPP, please call 613-475-1313, prior to the Municipality of Brighton approving your permit. The traffic plan detour route must include a detour map with names and intersections of roadways.
  • Name, phone and email address of OPP Representative that gave approval.
  • Approval from the Lakeland Public Health Unit, if selling/serving food. Include name, phone and email address of Public Health Inspector that gave approval. Their address is 185 King St. Peterborough, ON K9J 2R8, phone 844-575-4567.
  • Approval from Brighton's Fire Department Fire Chief, Gene Thompson. A scanned  document including his name, signature, phone and email address is acceptable.
  • If your event is on a Northumberland County road, you must complete a Road Use for Special Events application for Northumberland County. Please give us a copy of their approval.
Please Note:
  • Permit application and supporting documents must be received at least 30 business days prior to the scheduled special event.
  • Every applicant to whom a permit has been issued shall ensure that access for emergency vehicles is available at any and all times.
